Women’s Pro Soccer comes to Tulsa!
Atlanta Beat vs St Louis Athletica

TULSA- The Broken Arrow Soccer Club, a 501-c3 non-profit organization, is proud to host the WPS preseason match of the Atlanta Beat and the St Louis Athletica.
This will be a match pitting some of the best USA National team players against each other! “When you consider over 10 USA National team players are on rosters, including US Soccer “Player of the Decade” Lindsey Tarpley, world’s greatest defensive midfielder Shannox Box, and goalkeeper star, Hope Solo will be playing in this match! One of the greatest players in the history of college soccer , U of North Carolina’s Tobin Heath, will be making her professional debut in Oklahoma”, Scott Spencer, HFC Director of Coaching, expresses.
St Louis Athletica is top heavy with USA National Team stars of Tarpley, Box, Solo, Lori Chalupny, Ashlyn Harris, Tina Ellertson, and Kendell Fletcher. How do you add to that? The coach is the Brazilian National team coach, Jorge Bacellos, with dynamic Brazilian forward Elaine, starting for them!
The Atlanta Beat has their own USA contingency of Heath, Amanda Cinalli, Noelle Kesilica, and Angie Kerr. However, the Beat is relying on a collection of the world’s greatest international stars. “As an expansion team starting in 2010, it was imperative to secure the best players for a fast start and excite the Atlanta soccer community. For the past 6 months I’ve traveled around the world, identifying the best talent from every continent. This is a pretty special group of players we’ve collected!” The top stars of Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, and Canada are playing with Atlanta.
Kyle Cussen, women’s soccer head coach at the University of Tulsa: “I think this is a great opportunity for our youth soccer players to see the “Next Level” of women’s soccer in America. I know our college girls are excited to be a part of this great event and compare their game to the Nation’s and World’s best players.
It is huge for young players to know that they have the opportunity not only to continue playing past college. That they can make a living playing the sport that they love and have dedicated so much of themselves and lives competing at. “
Oklahoma Soccer Association, Green Country Soccer Association, Broken Arrow Soccer Club, Hurricane Futball Club, Blitz Soccer Club, Tulsa Soccer Club, West Soccer Alliance Soccer Club, and the University of Tulsa are supporting organizations for the match. Proceeds from the match will go towards supporting the non-profit organization of Broken Arrow SC to provide youth soccer opportunities to all interested players. This event will also serve as an fundraiser for TOPSoccer, program for young athletes with special needs.
The match will be played at the University of Tulsa Soccer Stadium, meeting international standards for professional match play. Facility capacity will be expanded to 3500 for this match. About the Women’s Professional Soccer: WPS is the top level professional women’s soccer league in the world. The league is composed of 9 teams, with plans for future expansion. All the USA National team players play in WPS and many international stars. The season starts April 10th with the April 3rd Tulsa match the las
