BUSH BRANAN LEAD COACHES PAST '92 ALUMNI

Ryan Bush netted a penalty to draw the coaches back from 2-neil down, leaving one last lesson for the '92 alumni team which he trained for 7 years of their club development, while Scott Branan gave the "no you don't" finger to Juan Peralta on what could have been a deciding penalty winner.   Read more here...

BUSH BRANAN COME UP BIG!
Huge Penatly Save by Branan, 7 Points from Bush

Bush's free kick looked a bit similar to the ones he used to net for the '80's back in the day.  With only a minute left, as announcers Jeremy Combs and Matt Weeks called the game, announcing the final minute of play, and agreeing with the decision of center referee Mark Foster (subsituting for starting center official Curtis Miller, who was called to the dunk tank), to award the free kick on the tackle of WSA Coach Matt Rogers, Bush stepped up.  The sizzler netted the far post side, leaving little for 96 Alum keeper Tristan Lewis to do but dig it out.

The tying goal was preceded by a thrilling save from Coaches Goalkeeper Scott Branan 5 minutes prior.  Branan turned away the pen when his team faced going down 3-1.  The save saw the "young and spry" Branan leap to cover the top corner and deny Juan Peralta, an NCAA preseason All-American the sure decider.  It marked the second coaches game in a row Branan has been turned to for heroics on behalf of the coaches!  In 2012 Branan delivered two remarkable saves in penalties to help the coaches to victory over the 95's.

The Branan save was preceded by a Bush penalty 15 minutes prior when he was brought down in the box on a corner - obviously the 92's feared his aerial threat. The two goals negated the efforts of Johnny Chavez who had put the '92's up 1-neil early.

Late in the match, Center official, Mark Foster, allowed 5 additional stoppage minutes.  In the final 60 seconds, the ball was wide to Bush and the service was requested from coach Preston on the bench and near touchline. The service reached back post and Nsien dug out the winner from the wreckage that ensued in the middle of the area.  The Full Time winner capped another thrilling Coach vs Player match and great day of soccer which featured 52 friendlies prior.  It also kept the WSA Coaches unbeaten mark perfect for the 23 year history of the club!

Josh's Sno Shack was on hand to provide sno cones, a dunk tank was on hand for players to fire away at coaches, and new Coach vs Alumni jerseys were revealed with the WSA Creed as the centerpiece.   Thank you to all participating players and teams!
