Training Expectations & Objectives

There are two sessions available for players at two different levels/age groups (Time/Date will be announced):

SESSION I Intermediate Training --  Intermediate training focuses on the basics and fundamentals of goalkeeping, with a tremendous emphasis on skill and technique development.

SESSION II:
Advanced Training -- Advanced training incorporates higher level skill and techniques, i.e. power diving, etc. with an inclusion of fitness and tactical aspects of goalkeeping for the more advanced keeper.

Trainers:

Josh Isaacs joins the WSA goalkeeper staff this Spring (2007).  Josh played collegiately at the University of Memphis, an NCAA-Division I program.  He was a multiple state champion with TSC 83 and a state finalist with WSA 83.  Josh began his club career at WSA before playing the middle part of his career at TSC and then capping off his final club match in the state championship game for WSA 83.  Josh set records for Charles Page High School where he was named All-District, All-Conference, and All-State while captaining the team.  He has attended goalkeeper schools and camps across the nation, including the Joe Machnik's # 1 Goalkeeper School.  Josh is known for his energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude as a player, and he now offers those same qualities as a trainer. Josh currently plays amateur soccer for a Men's D-I team. Please welcome Josh Isaacs to the WSA goalkeeper training staff.

Please welcome Terry Hall as he joins the WSA Goalkeeper coaching staff!  Terry is currently the head coach of the WSA 94 girls team (State Director's Cup Champions, 2005).  He played soccer on the West Coast, qualifying for the national final four, winning two Far West Regional Championships, and several state championships with his Arizona club team.  Terry was featured in Soccer America as one of the nation's top players at age 15, and he owns the unique trademark of being the youngest player to participate in nationals, playing as a 14 year old on his u16 squad (read article).  Terry was also involved in State ODP in Arizona, and was a part of the regional and national pool as a goalkeeper.

Please welcome Greg Haney as he joins the WSA Goalkeeper coaching staff!  Greg played goalkeeper collegiately for Northeastern State University and was a local high school standout player in Sand Springs.  Greg was regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in the state of Oklahoma (in his day) and has spent the past three years as a goalkeeper trainer working with clubs such as TSC and Hurricane.  He is the Memorial HS goalkeeper trainer, and Greg currently plays men’s league in NEOASA and coaches for SSSC u8 recreational program.  Greg has over 30 years of competitive soccer playing and coaching experience and currently serves as secretary for the SSSC Board of Directors.
