Shine in National Events

The WSA 92 boys had a busy, somewhat exhausting, and very rewarding Fall season. The team finished 2008-09 Oklahoma Premiere League play tied for league runner-up with Thunder 92 Black in the u17 boys division. The squad finished the season on 20 total points, 27 goals and 12 against, in the 10 game season. League champion was ESC 92.

If the team wasn't competing in league play this past season they were traveling the country to play in some of the United State's top collegiate recruiting events. Coach Ryan Bush reports that after returning home from Houston's Texas Blue Chip Showcase that through four different college showcase tournaments approximately 150 college programs had contacted the team , including some NCAA DI powers such as Tulsa University, SMU, and UC Santa Barbara. The team's crowing moment was at the NCAA Adidas Final Four Showcase in which WSA 92 reached the finals by going unbeaten against state champions from Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. They would face Michigan Wolves, a former National Champion, in the finals of that event where they would come up short in overtime.

The team also faired well at the CASL College Showcase in North Carolina and at the Blue Chip College Showcase in Houston. The team is hoping to gain a late entry into the Blue Chip Showcase in Cincinnati, Ohio later this season.

WSA 92 reached the Oklahoma State Semifinals where they exited on a 1-0 loss to ESC 92, the Oklahoma State Champions. They also reached the US Club Regional Semifinal stage where they lost to Regional Champions Tigres. The team will turn focus later this season from College Showcasing to the State and Regional competitions which have been on the team's radar since day one.

The squad is coached by Ryan Bush, and team managers are Mr Ken Lovelee, Mrs Brenda Lovelee, and Mrs Candy Behrens.

Sapulpa Soccer Club President, Mr Glenn Coffey, and West Side Alliance S.C. president, Mr. Ken Lovelee, signed an agreement on Tuesday, March 17th, 2009, at the Sapulpa Blake Bingman Soccer Complex to establish a partnership between the two soccer programs in a historic announcement
ALLIANCE FORGED!
Sapulpa Soccer joins WSA Umbrella in Historic Announcement!

In a historic and quite possibly monumental occasion West Side Alliance S.C. has announced that a partnership with Sapulpa Soccer Club has been officially formalized! The agreement calls for Sapulpa Soccer Club to acknowledge and recognize West Side Alliance S.C. as their competitive branch, and in turn calls for WSA to acknowledge and recognize Sapulpa Soccer Club as one of it's host clubs. The agreement was driven by an ambition to enhance the soccer opportunities for kids in the "highway 97" communities of Sapulpa and Sand Springs. Sapulpa Soccer Club President, Mr. Glenn Coffey reports, "The agreement with WSA is most beneficial to the kids."

WSA soccer is in its seventeenth year of a relationship with Sand Springs Soccer Club, and all indicators are that that relationship is as strong as ever and will be onward. The addition of Sapulpa Soccer Club as a part of the WSA umbrella, according to WSA Coaching Director, Roger Bush, is "an indication of cooperation, relationship, and synergy, all on behalf of kids in Sapulpa and Sand Springs communities who participate in the sport."

The partnership is the fruition of the initial concept behind West Side "Alliance", a club concept whose vision was to unify some of the geographically isolated areas of Tulsa Metro into a formidable competitive program for communities west of the larger Tulsa club programs. Sapulpa's board, Sand Springs board, and WSA's board have worked diligently for two years in an effort to ink an agreement and formalize a partnership that all parties saw all along as a huge benefit to the players in both communities. "The increase in player pools, field resources, and leadership will help all three programs (WSA, Sapulpa Soccer, Sand Springs Soccer) provide a more enhanced experience for more kids, and will benefit both soccer communities," reports Bush.

WSA President, Mr. Ken Lovelee, a Sapulpa native, is excited about the new partnership, and adds, "We look forward to welcoming Sapulpa Soccer Club players to WSA and to our partnership with Sapulpa Soccer Club." Bush points out that the partnership required a lot of diligent effort and cooperation by many club leaders. Sand Springs Soccer Club president, Mr. Jeremy Herrington, and Sapulpa board member, Mr. Greg Hamilton, played vital roles in the meetings and negotiations between the club programs. The end result is a new day on the "west side" for the sport of the soccer. A day that brings much promise, hope and opportunity for the future, as Coffey relays, "We look forward to expanding the opportunities available to soccer players here in Sapulpa."

Alas! Allied!
