YOUTH DEVELOPMENT & STAR TRAINING PROGRAMS IN FULL SWING!
Skills and Technical Training for Youth Soccer Players
The WSA and Sand Springs Soccer Club Youth Development Academy Program has registered 250 players in multiple programs for the Fall 2011 inaugarural season. Over 100 players have shown up for "Star Training" on Monday evenings. This combined training session, focuses on skill and technical development of the young player. The "Star Sessions" are held every Monday and are open to all the YDP (Youth Development Program) players in the u7/u8 division and u9/u10 division.
"The program’s early success is evident by the "buy-in" from our coaching staff and the participation of the parents and players," reports WSA DOC, Roger Bush. Nearly 20 trainers from WSA’s staff have committed to investing in the STAR Training concept. In addition to that the WSA Big Brother and Big Sister program has sent "mentor teams" out each night to assist as counselors.
The Kickstart 2-4 year old program has an additional 30 players registered in the "Bunnies" and "Cottontails" program, while the Juniors 5-6 program has approximatley 75 other children enrolled. Coaching Directors, Barry Roberts, Alex McLaurin, Catherine Grona, and Johhn Williams, oversee the operation of the different programs on a weekly basis.
All programs will offer winter training sessions, including indoor Futsal teams. Check back after Halloween for information regarding the Winter Soccer programs. If you would like more information on any of the programs please visit our Youth Development Program page.
