WSA Teams Have Good Weekend at Blitz Invitational

Five Teams Advance

 Tulsa, OK -- WSA sent 13 teams to the Blitz Fall Invitational this past weekend, and several teams turned in top notch performances.  In fact five WSA teams advanced including WSA 99 Boys (Gold Semifinalist), WSA 01 Girls (Silver Semifinalist), WSA 00 Girls (Silver Semifinalist), WSA 96 Boys Red (Silver Finalist), WSA 97 Boys Red (Gold Champions).  Click here to read more... 

 WSA SEES FIVE TEAMS ADVANCE IN BLITZ TOURNEY

  Five WSA teams advanced in the Blitz Fall Invitational this past weekend, and several others turned in winning records.  The WSA 97 Boys Red capped a great weekend downing a top Kansas club, Aztecs, 3-0, in the championship match as WSA 97 Red claimed the top trophy in the u14 Boys Gold Division.  The WSA 96 Boys Red team also capped a great weekend by brining home a finalist trophy in the u15 boys Silver division.   Wes Branstetter, head coach for both 97 Red and 96 Red was proud of both teams’ efforts on the weekend.  "I was proud of the boys," reported Coach Branstetter.  

     The 01 Girls who were under the guidance of Coach Justin Phillips this weekend turned in a performance that saw them through to the semifinals and the 00 Girls under the leadership of Coach Alex McLaurin also made an appearance in the semifinals.  The WSA 99 Boys, led by coach Tom Apitz, playing in an ultra tough u12 Boys Gold division would reach the semifinal stage before exiting.  

The WSA 98 Girls Red, WSA 93 Boys Blue, WSA 99 Girls Red, WSA 00 Boys, and WSA 95 Girls all turned in winning records in the Gold Divisions, but did not advance.  The WSA 97 Girls were credited by Coach Billy Wallace with improved play, but did not advance in the Gold division, and the WSA 97 Boys blue were positioned to make the "Silver u14" final going into their final match on Sunday, but dropped a decision to the eventual champions that would eliminate them.  The WSA 01 Boys claimed two wins, including a decision over the tournament finalist, but did not advance.  

     The weather was perfect, the tournament hosted by Blitz United Soccer Club seemed to be a success and all WSA teams reported having a good time.  Congratulations to all WSA teams and players for a great outing in the Blitz Fall Invitational, and special thanks to all tournament organizers from Blitz United Soccer Club for a great event!
