Why this project matters
More light means more opportunities for WSA athletes
West Bank serves 48 WSA-Tulsa Competitive and National Program teams, but only four of the complex’s eleven fields are fully lit. Limited evening space creates scheduling challenges during the shorter days of fall and winter.

The grassroots lighting plan
A practical approach built on what WSA learned this summer
WSA replaced ten aging halogen fixtures with ten LED lights. The project reduced the load on the existing transformer and helped resolve overheating problems that had caused lights to shut off.
WSA’s operating results indicate that removing one halogen fixture can create transformer capacity for up to two additional LED lights. One new LED also produces usable light comparable to approximately three to four aging halogen fixtures.
Nine expansion light poles have already been procured. Campaign funds will help purchase LED fixtures, set and equip poles, complete trenching and electrical work, and provide the supporting infrastructure required for expansion.
The project can expand usable field space while avoiding the estimated $30,000–$40,000 cost of adding another transformer.

On October 19, WSA players launched the public phase of Light the Bank and generated at least $22,000 in a single evening.
Most importantly—thank you. Thank you to every donor who has contributed, and to the athletes and families who made the effort to participate. This is a true grassroots fundraiser: its strength comes from the collective effort of our WSA community.

A strong launch—not the finish line
The rally proved what WSA players, families and supporters can accomplish together. That successful night was the first step in a larger three-week fundraising journey.
Every player can still create an account, add contacts and personally invite family members, friends and community supporters to participate. Continued outreach will build on the energy of the rally and move WSA closer to a transformative facility vision.

The current campaign total—including at least $22,000 generated on telethon night—has secured ten additional LED fixtures and can fund the brackets, electrical connections and labor needed to replace approximately 20–30 aging halogen fixtures with ten LEDs.

Goal 1: Improve Fields 12 and 7 now
Replace aging halogen fixtures on the existing light poles with brighter, more reliable LEDs. This will directly improve the current lighting serving Fields 12 and 7.
Because one LED can deliver usable output comparable to approximately three to four aging halogen fixtures, fewer fixtures can provide better and more dependable light.
Goal 2: Create capacity for expansion
Removing 20–30 halogen fixtures and replacing them with ten LEDs can release transformer capacity for as many as 20 new, additional LED fixtures on future poles.
The current total may also allow WSA to begin setting the nine expansion poles already procured. During the week of October 20, WSA will assess the cost to trench and install conduit to ten future pole locations.
Where campaign dollars will go
Preliminary Phase I project need: $132,650
The $100,000 campaign would fund the majority of the current preliminary project need. Final costs remain subject to electrical design, permitting and contractor bids.
Build it pole by pole: Each additional $1,500 funds one LED fixture. Approximately $1,000 funds the electrical connections and mounting labor at one pole. Trenching is estimated at $4 per foot, while conduit and electrical wire add approximately $12,500 across the preliminary 6,000-foot plan. The actual cost of each pole location will vary according to its distance from the power source and the final electrical design.
Pole setting and mounting brackets $12,000
Begin setting and equipping the nine expansion poles already procured, and purchase the remaining brackets and related mounting components. Final allocation will depend on the site assessment and contractor pricing.
30 LED fixtures $45,000
Ten fixtures for replacement and approximately twenty fixtures for planned field-light expansion.
Trenching, conduit and electrical wire $36,500
Approximately 6,000 feet of trenching at $4 per foot ($24,000), approximately $2,500 for conduit and approximately $10,000 for electrical wire. The week-of-October-20 site assessment will help determine the actual route and cost required to reach ten future pole locations.
Electrical work and boom-lift rental $18,000
Approximately $1,000 per pole for electrical connections and mounting labor, plus an estimated $3,000 for boom-lift rental.
Contingency reserve $11,150
A preliminary reserve for conditions or project needs identified during installation.
Wright’s Light $10,000
An estimated $10,000 for the dedicated pole, light, engraved in-ground placard and related installation needs required to create the permanent “always on” light at West Bank. Wright’s Light remains a priority for this phase of the project.
A promise and a permanent legacy
Wright’s Light
The campaign will help WSA fulfill a promise to the Wright family by establishing an “always on” light at West Bank. The concept was born from Kinsey Wright’s memorial service, where she was remembered as the Guardian of the Goal and Guardian of the Light of Truth.
The estimated cost to complete Wright’s Light is $10,000, and it remains an important focus of this phase of the lighting project.
Wright’s Light will create a permanent point of remembrance, inspiration and connection for the WSA community.

Frequently asked questions
Which teams are participating in the campaign?
The campaign involves the 24 girls teams and 24 boys teams in WSA-Tulsa’s Competitive and National Programs that regularly train under the lights at West Bank.
Does every family have to make a required donation?
No. Families can participate by giving, sharing the campaign, contacting friends and relatives, introducing a possible sponsor or helping their team organize outreach.
Can a donor make a pledge and pay later?
Yes. The Leadership Match Commitment form allows a donor to document the amount and activation terms. Written commitments are tracked separately from money already received.
Can a business provide a matching gift?
Yes. Businesses may offer guaranteed, dollar-for-dollar or goal-activated commitments. WSA will confirm recognition preferences and matching terms before public use.
What happens if the campaign raises less than $100,000?
WSA will prioritize the work that produces the greatest immediate increase in reliable, usable training space. The project may proceed in phases as funds, design approvals and contractor availability allow.
Will these improvements remain useful in the Field of Dreams master plan?
Yes. The majority of the poles, LED fixtures and supporting infrastructure are intended to remain reusable through future phases of West Bank development.
When will installation begin?
The construction schedule will depend on funds raised, final electrical design, permitting, product lead times and contractor availability. WSA will provide campaign and project updates on this page.
